Lubricant packaging and MOQ: how to plan your order

Lubricant packaging and MOQ: how to plan your order

Lubricant packaging and minimum order quantities depend on the product, filling format and branding requirement. Use published quantities as planning references, then confirm the pack, quantity unit and MOQ for the exact grade in the quotation.

Which pack sizes are listed?

Listed pack sizes do not mean every grade is available in every container. Check the product-specific options before converting a required volume into a number of packs.

Why can the MOQ differ between grades?

MOQ applies to an offered product and packaging combination, not automatically to the entire catalogue. Existing branded stock and a new private-label production run may have different order conditions.

Ask whether the minimum is calculated per grade, per pack size or across the order. For several viscosities, confirm each line separately; a total order volume does not by itself establish that mixed grades meet production minimums.

How can a trial order be discussed?

A trial-order request should state the intended test, quantity and preferred packaging. Smaller quantities, mixed orders and samples require separate availability and cost confirmation.

If the preferred pack does not fit the available production quantity, ask what alternatives can be quoted. Compare handling, storage and use at your site before accepting a larger pack solely to reduce the number of containers.

  • Separate trial demand from expected repeat purchases
  • Confirm MOQ for each grade and pack size
  • Confirm sample, freight and packaging costs before shipment

How should a mixed-grade order be listed?

Use a separate line for each grade and pack size. For example, list L-HM ISO VG 46 in 18L pails separately from L-HV ISO VG 32 in 200L drums. This illustrates an inquiry format, not an offer or a confirmed minimum order.

  • Record the number of packs and the total volume for each line.
  • Ask whether each line meets its own MOQ; do not assume the combined total is sufficient.
  • For private label, confirm the label language and packaging requirements for each item.

Questions about this topic

Are the listed MOQs guaranteed for every product?

No. The figures are planning references. The quotation confirms the MOQ for the offered grade, packaging and branding requirement.

Can different viscosities be combined in one order?

Mixed orders need separate confirmation. Specify the quantity and packaging for each grade so the applicable minimums can be checked.

Is IBC packaging available for all oils?

No. IBC is listed for selected industrial products. Availability and order quantity must be confirmed for the product requested.
